Senior Hurlers

"Luke Maloney and Cathal O'Dualachain make senior debuts"

Bray Emmets senior hurlers played there second game in this year's campaign on Sunday July 1st in Aughrim against Kiltegan. We started rather slowly this week falling behind 3 points to 1 in the first ten minutes, despite playing with a strong breeze, however Mikey Lee levelled things with a couple of long range frees and shortly afterwards put us ahead with a well struck 21 yard free. We never looked back after this and Kiltegan didn't score again until ten minutes into the second half. At half time we led 1.12 to 3 points with all our scores coming from our full forward line, Daire Lohan,(2) Liam Kenny(2) and Mikey(1-8).Indeed it could have been a lot worse for the men from the west were it not for some great saves by the Kiltegan goalkeeper. Hendo, Paulie Cunningham and Arran Murphy were running the show around the middle section and Christy Moorehouse was giving Jeffery Bermingham from Kiltegan, a horrid time. The match was over as a contest at half time but our lads never took their foot off the pedal, racking up another 1-7 in the second half, Liam(1) Christy Moorehouse with a fine individual goal ten minutes into the half. Arran Murphy (2) and Eoin Mason (1) also got in on the score sheet. Kiltegan to their credit did fight to the end and found the goal twice in the dying moments. Billy Brazil came in for Paulie who had made an immense contribution; unfortunately Ed Keating saw red in the last ten minutes after getting involved with Liam Kavanagh the Kiltegan corner forward. Peter Kiely is slowly getting back to his best at full back and Harry solid at centre back. The Carnew game was down for Friday 13th but to accommodate Carnew is rescheduled for Thursday the 12th. Thanks to Shane O'Brien, Chris Masterson, Frances Stevenson, Siobhan Egan, Martin Kennedy and all our backroom team,

best regards
