Senior Hurlers V Kiltegan

Bray Emmets:  2-10,

Kiltegan:  0-15.

The next game of the league stage of the Senior Hurling Championship was held on Saturday 23rd July in Aughrim against Kiltegan.  This was expected to be a greater challenge than the previous tie as they are a stronger side and also as we were missing several of our normal team due to holiday, work commitments and injury. Again, as in the last game we started slowly and gave the initiative to Kiltegan who punished any frees or errors with well taken points mostly by Ray Kelly who was almost unstoppable throughout the game. Gradually as the game moved on we got into the pace of the game, helped by a long range free taken by Peter Kiely which ended in the net, and by half time the scores were level 1-4 for Bray and 0-7 for Kiltegan. The second half started a bit like the first with Kiltegan picking off points fairly much at will. Some determined work by a number of players such as Paul Cunningham who has a great game at centre forward, Ronan O'Brien at full-back, Diarmuid Masterson who made his debut in goal and was very solid, Karl Lacey and Aaron Murphy at midfield and some sharp shooting by Christ Moorehouse and an opportunist goal by Paddy Lee in the forward line brought us back into the game. Our next outing will be against Arklow Rocks when the final line-up for the knockout stage will be set.
