Senior Hurling Championship V Arklow

Bray Emmets 0-13

Arklow 1-7

The progress of our senior hurlers continued with a great win over Arklow Rocks in Aughrim on Saturday last and paved the way for a semi-final meeting with Glenealy. This was a great hearted display by Bray who had a roller coaster run in this very tight game against the Rocks. Arklow started the better and controlled the game in the early exchanges. Bray were slow to react but then gradually got into the game. In spite of missing a good number of key players Bray showed Great Spirit and never gave up the fight. The half-time score was Bray 0-8, Arklow Rocks 0-7.

The second half was even more hard fought. Arklow kept great pressure on Bray and any possession was hard won. The game was moving away from Bray when, with some twenty minutes to go, they were reduced to 14 players and were two points in arrears. The character of the team was really tested, however they really responded against all the odds. A great performance by John Henderson at midfield lifted the team and some good scores by Christy Moorehouse kept Bray in the match.  The final minutes were not good for the nerves however Bray held out and came through with the scoreline of Bray 0-13, Arklow 1-7. Hopefully with the missing players such as Paul Cunningham, Colm Johnson, Gearóid O Murchu, Arron Murphy and  Willie Keane we will be better equipped for our next game.
