Senior Hurling Championship

14 August, 2010

Bray Emmets 1-19,

Arklow Rocks 0-9.

Our senior hurlers took another step towards the knockout stages of the championship with a good win over Arklow Rocks in Pearse Park, Arklow on Saturday last. While Bray Emmets were undoubtedly the better team this was a somewhat patch performance. Bray started strongly and imposed their will on the game with some good early scores from Liam Kenny, Christy Moorehouse and Eoin Mason. It looked a very one-sided game at this stage with very good displays in defense and midfield delivering good ball to the forwards. However the team seemed to be assuming an easy win at this early stage and effort from many players dropped. Arklow gained heart from this opportunity and scored a number of points without reply. The half - time score saw Bray Emmets leading by 0-11 to 0-6, a small margin in hurling.

The second half was a somewhat dogged affair for some time, however 2 good points from substitute Gearoid O'Murchu seemed to settle Bray. A number of points from frees by Christy Moorehouse and a goal from Michael Walsh assured a Bray win.

This performance showed that we are capable of playing some very good hurling when all players are working hard together, however it is concerning that many players work rate dropped so early, thus handing the initiative to Arklow.
