Juniors go down in first Division 3 outing

8 March, 2013

After the success of winning last year's Junior C Championship, our Junior Footballers made the step up to Division 3 on Friday night, 8th March when they took to the field against a strong St. Pats team on the 3G pitch in Old Conna. Very encouragingly, Bray stepped up to the plate in the first half and after some early pressure from St. Pats, Emmets gradually took control of proceedings and dominated right up to the half-time whistle. However, this dominance did not translate to the score board and Bray trailed at the break to a more economical St. Pats by 2-4 to 0-4, despite St. Pats being reduced to fourteen men on the stroke of half-time.
In the second half, the effects of having only one week's notice of the teams inclusion in the Junior A Division came to the fore. A fitter St. Pats team gained momentum and in the end ran out 2-16 to 0-7 winners. Bray had very good performances throughout the pitch in the first half, particularly Ross Masterson who worked tirelessly throughout.  Encouraging on the night was the commitment by all panel members to attend on such short notice. Training continues on Tuesdays at 7.30p.m.
