Snow brace sees Juniors past Avoca

15 August, 2013

Bray Emmets opened their Junior B Championship campaign when they hosted Avoca in Páirc Emmet Bhré on Thursday, 15th August. This was an entertaining and keenly contested game between two committed sides. With the aid of a stiff breeze, Avoca got off to a fine start and rifled over three early points. However, Emmets settled into the game and thanks to two well taken Declan Snow goals, it was Bray who led at the half-time break. A second yellow card for Sean Liddy saw Emmets reduced to fourteen men whose efforts were further disrupted by injuries to key players Ray Lambe and Geoff Morrissey. In a matter of minutes, the spine of the team had been greatly affected and naturally, Avoca took full advantage and began to close the gap. Bray dug deep though and weathered the storm to reply with some fine points of their own, to eventually close out the game with six points to spare. Best for Emmets on the night were Matt Thompson, Oisín Ó hAnnaidh, Declan Snow, and Gar Crowley.

Final score: Bray Emmets 2-9 Avoca 0-9.
