Junior B Championship Final Replay 2014. Bray Emmets 1-9 Rathnew 0-3Our men’s junior football team travelled to Arklow last Saturday to take on Rathnew in a replay of the Wicklow Men’s Junior B football final. The weather conditions were very poor for the game, but this did not dampen the spirit or resolve of the Bray lads. Bray lead at half time on a score line of 1-2 to 0-1, with a fine point by one of Brays veterans Raymond Lambe, and a well-executed goal by Garret Crowley. The weather condition did not improve for the second half, but Bray continued to battle well against Rathnew, with some good tackling, and well executed scores from Ben McCormack, Cathal McGee, Matt Thompson and Dylan Terry, Bray ran our victors on a score line of 1-9 to 0-3. The man of the match was Peter Walsh, who had a very strong game for the victors. Other notable performances were from Brian O’Keeffe, who ended his playing days with Bray on a high. The Bray captain Mark Mulvaney accepted the cup on behalf of the team, with a lengthily acceptance speech as Gaeilge, and the celebrations continued in the Ardmore in Bray. This was a good team performance on the day. The team is a mixture of youth and age, with the vastly experienced Brian, Ray, Oisin and Geoff, along with the introduction of seven minors from this year’s minor football panel in to Adult football. Bray started the brighter however only managed 1 point in the first 15 minutes. Kiltegan took the reins for the remainder of the half but equally found it hard to take advantage on the score board. However a goal from Donnacha O Midheach against the run of play put bray ahead at half time. The second half was as tight as the first with both teams trading point for point. Bray rang the changes with each substitute having their own positive impact as the half ran on. None more so than Ronan Cunningham hitting the winner 3 mins from fulltime. Bray finished stronger holding out to win 1.6 to 8.

Enniskerry 1-12 Bray Emmets 2-10
On Saturday evening Bray made the short journey to our neighbours in Enniskerry in Div3 of the adult football league. Armed with a full bench for the first time this year all be it with a few injuries. Bray made use of the first half wind and led 9 - 3 at the break. The second half was ominous to be an onslaught from our opponents and it was. Enniskerry turned the screw chipping away at the Bray lead but 2 excellent goals kept Bray above water as the wind proved a difficult factor in this half. To their credit Bray displayed some ferocious commitment and tackling for long periods. As players emptied the tanks the introduction of Daire Henderson, Matt Thompson, Rob Connaughton and Geoff Morrissey increased the intensity of the work rate being displayed. Bray held out to win by a single point

Division 3 Football -v- Kilbride | 6 April, 2014 |
Bray travelled to Manor Kilbride on Sunday morning in Div3 of the adult football league. Home advantage was quickly cancelled out for Kilbride when the pitch was deemed unplayable and both teams made the journey to Lacken to play the fixture. Brays adapted the quicker to the harsh conditions and were rewarded by some excellent scores. Lee Brandon was on target from both play and frees for Bray. Cathal Magee rattled the net for Bray after some good football and on 20mins Bray found themselves 1-4 up. Worryingly Bray conceded 1.3 to their 1 pt in the 10mins before halftime. The in form Cathal Magee had to depart the action just before half time due to injury and Goalkeeper Tadgh Doran found himself in the fray. Bray lead at halftime 1-5 to 1-3. Conditions worsened in the second half and this game became a dogfight with both sides not giving an inch. The turning point was a Shane McNicholas goal, after a good turnover by Shane Sullivan the ball was darted into Garreth Crowely who found the goal scorer thundering through with a delicate pass. Kilbride closed the gap with a late surge but Bray held their discipline and with the sight of just Ian Smith left on the bench everyone emptied the tank to run out 2-8 to 1-8 winners. Training continues on Tuesday at 8pm. We all wish Cathal a speedy recovery. Junior footballers defeat Laragh | 20 September, 2013 |
The Junior Footballers played their final home game of their Division 3 campaign when they played Laragh in perfect conditions at Páirc Emmet Bhré on Friday evening, 20th September. Despite missing a few regulars, Emmets got off to a fine start and were dominating the game when Eoin McMahon goaled midway through the first half. However, Laragh got themselves back into contention as the home side began to struggle to take their scores and at the break, Emmets led by 1-7 to 0-6. The second half began with the visitors applying more pressure on the Bray defence but a goal by Enda Molloy steadied the ship and Emmets held on for a fine win. Final score: Bray Emmets 2-9 Laragh 0-12. On the night, Bray were best served by the evergreen Conor Spillane at corner back, Enda and Dan Molloy who combined well down the left throughout the game, Oisin O hAnnaidh and Ray Lambe at midfield, Eoin McMahon who kicked some fine long range scores and linked up well with Gar Crowley, who himself was a constant threat to the Laragh defence.

Snow brace sees Juniors past Avoca | 15 August, 2013 |
Bray Emmets opened their Junior B Championship campaign when they hosted Avoca in Páirc Emmet Bhré on Thursday, 15th August. This was an entertaining and keenly contested game between two committed sides. With the aid of a stiff breeze, Avoca got off to a fine start and rifled over three early points. However, Emmets settled into the game and thanks to two well taken Declan Snow goals, it was Bray who led at the half-time break. A second yellow card for Sean Liddy saw Emmets reduced to fourteen men whose efforts were further disrupted by injuries to key players Ray Lambe and Geoff Morrissey. In a matter of minutes, the spine of the team had been greatly affected and naturally, Avoca took full advantage and began to close the gap. Bray dug deep though and weathered the storm to reply with some fine points of their own, to eventually close out the game with six points to spare. Best for Emmets on the night were Matt Thompson, Oisín Ó hAnnaidh, Declan Snow, and Gar Crowley.
Final score: Bray Emmets 2-9 Avoca 0-9.

Junior Footballers return to action | 1 August, 2013 |
The Junior Footballers returned to competitive action for the first time since the end of May when they travelled to Ashford on Thursday evening, 1st August. The game was played with real intensity but the greasy conditions made it difficult for players on both sides. The lead was exchanged throughout the first half and this pattern continued after half-time when there was rarely more than a point between the teams. The decisive score came late in the second half when a high ball into the Bray square, one of many on the night, was punched to the net. Emmets probably had the opportunities to seal victory before that goal but despite the result, the game was ideal preparation for the upcoming Junior B Championship which begins on Thursday 15th August.Best for Bray on the night were Keith Hillick, Mark Mulvaney, Oisin Ó hAinnidh and Gar Crowley.Emmet Bhré: Keith Hillick, James Talbot, Rob McNamee, Mark Mulvaney, Dan Molloy, Geoff Morrissey, Matt Thompson, Oisin Ó hAinnidh, Sean Liddy, Ben McCormack, Gar Crowley, Ross Masterson, Daire Henderson, Declan Snow, Marc LennonSubstitutes: Dave Sullivan, Brendan Snow, Conor Spillane, Tadhg Doran, John Mahony... |

Bray Emmets were well beaten in Division 3 of the County League by a much stronger Rathnew side on Tuesday, 16th April. Final score: Rathnew 5-13 Bray Emmets 1-4. Best on a disappointing evening for Emmets were Geoff Morrissey, Dan Molloy and Rob McNamee.Emmet Bhré: Tadhg Doran, Mark Mulvaney, Rob McNamee, Enda Molloy, Dan Molloy, Geoff Morrissey, Ross Masterson, Ray Lambe, Fergal Devlin, John Mahony, Niall McCague, Jamie Queney, Declan Snow, Gar Crowley, Brendan Snow.Substitutes: Keith Hillick, Gavin Cahill, Mark Nolan... |
Junior's get points on the board | 5 April, 2013 |
Bray Emmets recorded their first victory in Division 3 of the County League when they carved out a hard fought win over Kilbride at Páirc Emmet Bhré on Friday, 5th April. The visitors enjoyed much of the early pressure resulting in Bray having to work much harder for their scores. The boot of Conor Flannery from frees (0-2) kept Emmets in touch before the same player raised a badly needed green flag. This was quickly followed by a Ray Lambe goal which meant the sides went in at half time 2-2 to 0-6. Bray took control in the second half and held off a strong Kilbride late surge to win 2-8 to 1-8. Hard work was evident all over the pitch with Alan Corr, Oisin O'hAnnaidh and Conor Flannery impressing most. Best wishes to Conor who was carried off before the end of the game with a recurring injury. We wish him a speedy recovery.Emmet Bhre: Keith Hillick, Mark Mulvaney, Rob McNamee, Alan Corr, Dan Molloy, Geoff Morrissey, Oisin O'hAnnaidh, Ray Lambe (1-0), Fergal Devlin, Ross Masterson, Sean Liddy, John Mahony, Brandan Snow, Gar Crowley (0-3), Conor Flannery (1-3) Substitutes: Jamie Queeney (0-1), Mark Lenihan, Niall McCague... |
Juniors draw with Eire Og | 21 March, 2013 |
In what could only be described as atrocious weather conditions, the Junior Football team played out a very exciting draw with Eire Og in Greystones in Division 3 of the County League last Thursday night, 21st March. Greystones dominated the first half and assisted by the driving wind and rain, they bombarded the Bray defence repeatedly. However, Emmets defended stoutly and went in at half-time only three points down: Eire Og 0-4 Emmets 0-1.
With the wind to their backs in the second half, Bray were now in a good position but credit must go to Greystones who had 1 -1 on the scoreboard within 90 seconds of the restart. Despite this poor start, Bray came into the game strongly and with the aid of the elements, they powered to a lead of 3-4 to 1-6 with just three minutes remaining. However, victory was not to be and Greystones snatched 1-1 before the final whistle to share the spoils on a final score of Eire Og 2-7 Emmets 3-4. Indeed, had it not been for a great save from Tadhg Doran right at the death, Greystones could have taken all points. Both teams and referee Johnny O'Brien have to be credited for their efforts in some of the worst weather conditions many had seen football played in for some time! Bray showed great team spirit and determination throughout the game which augurs well for the season ahead.
Emmet Bhré: Tadhg Doran, James Talbot, Rob McNamee, Mark Mulvaney, Dan Molloy, Geoff Morrissey, Oisin O'hAnnaidh (1-0), Sean Liddy, Fergal Devlin, Ross Masterson, David Haughton (0-2), Matt Thompson, Brendan Snow (1-0), Gar Crowley (0-2), Johnny O'Leary,

Juniors go down in first Division 3 outing | 8 March, 2013 |
After the success of winning last year's Junior C
Championship, our Junior Footballers made the step up to Division 3
on Friday night, 8th March when they took to the field against a
strong St. Pats team on the 3G pitch in Old Conna. Very
encouragingly, Bray stepped up to the plate in the first half and
after some early pressure from St. Pats, Emmets gradually took
control of proceedings and dominated right up to the half-time
whistle. However, this dominance did not translate to the score
board and Bray trailed at the break to a more economical St. Pats
by 2-4 to 0-4, despite St. Pats being reduced to fourteen men on
the stroke of half-time.
In the second half, the effects of having only one week's
notice of the teams inclusion in the Junior A Division came to the
fore. A fitter St. Pats team gained momentum and in the end ran out
2-16 to 0-7 winners. Bray had very good performances throughout the
pitch in the first half, particularly Ross Masterson who worked
tirelessly throughout. Encouraging on the night was the
commitment by all panel members to attend on such short notice.
Training continues on Tuesdays at 7.30p.m.

The Men's junior football team travelled to St Patrick's,
Wicklow Town on Sunday morning (16th) for their semi
final encounter with their neighbours Kilmac. On a windy morning in
Wicklow Town, the game was a very even contest in the first half,
with Bray taking a small lead in to half time, on a score line of 3
pints to 2. Johnny O'Leary and Jamie Queeney took some good scores
in the first half. In the second half, Bray conceded an
early goal, in a move that split Brays defence, and Kilmac hit the
back of the Bray net. Bray didn't panic at this stage, and settled
down in to the game. Bray made a double substitution early in the
second half, and brought on Eoin Mason and Fergal Devlin for Enda
and Cillian O' Maolmhuaidh, Both Eoin and Fergal settled in to the
game very quickly. Bray began to take control of the game with some
very good scores from Johnny O'Leary, Jamie Queeney, and Sean
Liddy. Mid way through the second half Bray introduced Matt
Thompson Jnr for Ross Masterson. On his introduction, Matt received
a ball from Johnny O'Leary and hand passed it in to the path of
Sean Liddy who finished off the move with a well taken goal. A
further point from Conor Flannery, who replaced Dave Gilmore, Bray
ran our eventual winners, on a score line of 1-9 to 1-3.
Overall Bray did not perform well in the first half, but Bray
lifted their game in the second half to earn a good win, and a
place in the Junior C Football Final against

The experienced Paddy Moynihan has joined the Junior team this year
and combined with the wisdom of Ian Smith and the former great
Adrian Flannery, the management team can be very happy how the team
performed on their first outing.
The next game is Thursday 21st, away to St Pats , throw in at
7.15.
There is training every Tuesday evening for the Junior panel a
7.00pm in Old Conna and every one is welcome.
We would like to express our deepest sympathy to Stephen and Gerry
Ebbs and their family and friends for the recent passing of their
father Jimmy Ebbs.
May he rest in peace.

Junior B Football Championship V Donard the Glen | 22 August, 2010 |
Bray Emmets 2-4
Donard/the Glen 0-11
Bray were found wanting in Gaelic football basics during the
first half in particular, with catching high balls with two hands!
Thanks to Gareth Crowley (0-1) and John Walsh (0-1) we were only 2
points behind at half time.
We upped our game in the second half with good teamwork
resulting in excellent scores from John Walsh(1-01) John
O'Leary(0-1) and last but not least Gareth Crowley(1-1) but
unfortunately it was not enough on the day and we were beaten by a
point.
