Bray v Arklow Rocks

We kicked off the intermediate championship on Saturday evening in Dunbar Road Wicklow, against the Rocks.

We had two bad knocks at the start of this encounter, the first being Ben McCormack not fit to play thru injury and the second, two minutes into the game Paul Barry (Sparkey) being helped off with a bad knee injury, however he was replaced by Matt Thompson who went on to play a stormer. Liam Kenny lead the attack, with Tom Cash and Daragh Maloney having a big say on the result and contributing hugely to the game.

We led 7 points to 3 at the break and were it not for Keith Barnes making two great saves in the Arklow goal we would have been further ahead, Cathal Reddin was outstanding throughout with his vast experience orchestrating the whole back line, Lorcan Pratt who replaced Ben also went well, with Willie Keane causing all sorts of problems for the Rocks defence.

Michael Walsh looked as if he had played in goal all his life, keeping a clean sheet. So a good win and a great team performance running out easy winners in the end on a score line of 2.15 to 5 points.

Team:  Michael Walsh, Paul Barry, Seanie Maloney, Jordan Lee, Cathal Reddin, Peter Conroy, Barry Cunningham, Ryan Tynan, Lorcan Pratt(2), Luke O’Reilly, Willie Keane(1), Nicholos Sweeney, Tom Cash(2.11), Liam Kenny(1) and Daragh Maloney, subs Matt Thompson for Sparkey, Brian Duggan and William Robinson.
