A Brief History of Bray Emmets
The first annual general meeting of the Bray Emmets club took place on December 11, 1886 with the club starting games in late 1885 or early 1886. The Emmets started competing in Wicklow and played in the county for the first seven or eight years. At the time of the GAA national crisis in 1891 they seemed to have departed the scene and were replaced by the Bray Independents.
In 1900, Bray Emmets entered Dublin and began the most successful period in the history of the club.... Bray won the 1901 Dublin Championship final against Kickhams in a game played at Jones Road on May 1, 1903. This entitled Bray Emmets to pick the Dublin team to represent Dublin in the All Ireland Football Championship. With 6 Bray Emmets players on the team, Dublin beat Wicklow, Louth and Wexford to win the Leinster final on May 4, 1904.
The Bray selection beat Armagh in the semi-final and Tipperary in the home final at Kilkenny in July 24, 1904. The All-Ireland title was grasped when London-Irish were beaten in September, 1904.
